MAX VIEWPORT OF PLAYER RIG
PLAYER RIG
The Player objects were created with a seemingly basic rig. There is only one joint, but four controllers. However, the nature of this project came with some unique challenges. One of which was creating a rig and bones that could stretch and scale with the environment. Here is one way to do it:

-
Create a skin mesh
-
Create the bones that will control the mesh
-
Create control objects and link them to the desired joints of the rig
-
For Each Bone
-
In the Motion Panel, Apply a Position Constraint
-
Add Position Target to the controller at the parent joint of that bone
-
Apply a LookAt Constraint to the controller at the child node of that node
-
Uncheck the Viewline Length Absolute option on the LookAt Constraint
-
Check Keep Initial Offset on the LookAt Constraint
-
-
Attach bones to Skin Mesh
-
All Done!

The glow of the laser was created using the Glow Lens Effect located in the Environment and Effects Dialog (located under the Rending menu). I explored other options, because the lens effect would not work through a solid medium (such as glass). However, the Glow Lens Effect looked great, so I stuck with it.
